Interesting that Trump seemed to feel the DC National Guard wouldn't back him unless he created some pretext...whereas when Congress called for the DC National Guard to be deployed, leading to their bivouac on the floor of the Capitol Building, neither Congress nor the commentariat seemed to have any concerns over the ultimate loyalty of the Guard, or the Guard's ability to correctly identify and sideline the relatively few in its own ranks who might have Trump sympathies.
On 1/6 Trump disgraced himself and the nation, but fortunately, I don't think we were anywhere close to having an actual, military coup d'etat.
